Tax Bills

You should receive your Summer tax bill and or copy in the first week of July and your Winter bill should be mailed to you the first week of December.  Please be sure to read your tax bills as they contain a lot of information, i.e.  Due dates, office hours of operation, including holidays, drop box location, return receipt rules, etc..  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to e-mail or call us by telephone.

If you find any discrepancies on you bill or have any questions, please feel free to contact us immediately at (616) 866-0622 ext. 3 or 5.

1) To avoid late fees, please allow extra time when paying by MAIL or BILL PAY thru your bank.  Please write LEGIBLY and include the parcel number(s) and telephone number.
2) Post marks are NOT accepted. A DROP BOX is located by the front door & Checked regularly.
3) Look at the top section of your bill under "Tax Detail" to verify you have the 100% Principal Residence Exemption (PRE) if you qualify.  If you think you qualify for a PRE and don't have it, please contact our Assessor, Jane Kolbe @ 616-302-7302.  The exemption reduces the school operating tax on your tax bill.
4) For a receipt, enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope and your entire tax bill (both portions) with your payment. We will mail you back the top portion as your receipt.
5) Summer Tax Deferments are available for qualifying seniors, agricultural or disabled residents. A copy of the form is available under "Treasurer Forms" or Call for questions about the guidelines for deferment qualifications or an application.  You must file prior to 09/14 yearly.
6) Those who qualify for a Tax Deferment will not be charged interest and have until February 14 to pay their Summer Taxes without Penalty & Interest.
7) We do NOT accept credit cards for payment at the Township Hall.  We do accept cash (EXACT amounts only please), however, IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO PAY WITH CASH!  Please pay by personal check or cashier's check. You can pay by credit card or e-check online under the "Online Payments" button on our home page. You will be taken to the link to access BS&A Services/Online Payments/Current Tax Payments, either choose to set up an account as property owner for free access, or pay the $2.00 fee with your credit card as a separate transaction to continue.  Once you have found your parcel through BS&A there will be an option to access "Point and Pay" to process your tax payment with a credit card or e-check payment.  (A credit card cannot be run as a debit card as it is not an option). Be sure to have a transaction receipt emailed to you as proof of payment. Addn. fees apply to pay by Credit Card of 3% or $3.00 to pay by e-check.   Credit card & e-check payments are accepted July 1 through Feb. 23 yearly.
8) The Treasurer’s Office is not responsible for payment on wrong property.
